A friend of mine who is a youth director posted photos of her group making ornaments. The photos looked intriguing. I wanted to know more. So I said, “Tell me more about these ornaments”
I found this thing on pinterest. a mom and her kids made advent ornaments (25) each one labeled with a name of Jesus…i.e. “Prince of Peace”. They placed one on the tree every day. So what I did was buy a bunch of the glass balls and crafty stuff and made a list of 25 scriptures with different names of Jesus they had to look them up then pick one or 2 they liked and make an ornament with that name. I told them the background and they got to take home their ornaments and hopefully share this idea with their family.
Yesterday I put up photos of our youth’s scripture posters they had made at Wednesday Night Youth. This message came over Facebook.
“Tell me more about these posters”
Started a series last night called “insta-life” “learning I be still and know in a have it now world.” To close I gave them several verses that had to do with being still, or getting away, letting go and trusting God. Then they were to write the verse, or paraphrase, or something about it on the poster. I put them up on the wall then took photos and put them on Instagram. Here’s a little more explanation http://www.ministry2youth.com/god-speaks-through-facebook/
There are tons of great blogs written about youth and youth ministry. There are books written which are full of great ideas for you to use. But you have great ideas too. You know things that work in your group. You are a huge resource for your friends in youth ministry.
So when you come across a great idea, or plan a program that works great, share it. And when you see someone else post about something they did in their youth program, just send them a message, “Tell me more about…”
